Still bummed that your Oscars-party invitations got lost in the mail? So are we. But we’re consoling ourselves by dishing the dirt on Sunday night’s star-studded party fouls.
First off, you’d expect a fete hosted by Prince to be beyond awesome. But a Page Six spy dubbed it a “disaster,” explaining, “At around 6 p.m., Prince’s camp abruptly announced the party had been moved from his house to Club Avalon and would be open to the public with a $100 admittance fee. There was no open bar, not even in VIP.” Oh, the humanity!
And the gossip column also reports that a party thrown by Hollywood’s Kabbalah cabal — Madonna, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher was marred by a spat between (surprise, surprise!) Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson.
“Sam was so nice and chill,” the source relays. “But then Lindsay came up and started to argue with Sam. The more Sam tried to calm her down, the more irate Lindsay became.” Again, we say: surprise, surprise!
Meanwhile, hostess Demi was playing bouncer — she spent the night booting people who weren’t invited, reports Showbiz Spy. Result? Attendance was spotty.
Star Jones was also boorish at her Oscars viewing party, the New York Daily News reports. She booed Reese Witherspoon’s dress and snarked that Jake Gyllenhaal “could do better.” Jealous much, Star?
And even the most prestigious bash of all, the Vanity Fair Oscars party, couldn’t hold the attention of the glitterati. A NYDN spy heard “Milk” nominee Josh Brolin moaning to a friend, “I’m so tired and over all this.” Meanwhile, his equally exhausted-looking wife, Diane Lane, was lamenting, “I’ve lost him again. We were almost out of here!”
Of course, we still would have killed to be invited to any of these shindigs. But don’t you feel just a little bit better now?
Britney vs. Sam
Britney Spears’ case against ex-manager Sam Lutfi is getting intense. While Sam is defending himself against allegations that he threatened the pop star, her father, Jamie, continues to insist that Sam is meddling in her life and needs to be handed a permanent restraining order.
On Monday, Jamie testified in a court hearing that Sam and her one-time beau Adnan Ghalib smuggled her a prepaid cell phone so they could keep in touch, violating a temporary restraining order.
“When [Lutfi] was in so-called control, she’d lost everything — her kids and career,” Jamie said, according to People magazine. “I believe he’s a predator, I believe he’s very dangerous to her. We just want the man to go away. Just leave us alone.” Agreed!
