Ryan ‘very excited’ to start 2017 after Trump meeting

House Speaker Paul Ryan said Friday he can’t wait to start the 115th Congress in January, after a morning meeting with President-elect Trump.

“We’re very excited about getting to work and getting to 2017 and getting this country back on track,” Ryan said. He left the building without taking any questions from reporters, but said the meeting was productive.

Ryan and Trump met in Trump Tower in New York City to discuss the transition and the 2017 legislative agenda.

Ryan has told reporters he is working closely with with Trump on the GOP’s 2017 plans. Both the House and Senate will be controlled by Republicans.
