Caitlyn Jenner beats President Obama’s record on Twitter

Formerly Bruce Jenner, Caitlyn Jenner became the individual to hold the fastest-growing Twitter account Monday, beating President Obama’s record set just last month.

Caitlyn welcomed herself to the public sphere Monday with her first tweet at 9:17am PST just as Vanity Fair unveiled its July cover featuring the former Olympic athlete sporting her new look.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it took Jenner a mere four hours to amass 1 million followers on Twitter by 1:20pm PST.

In one hour, she received 280,000 follows and the number grew exponentially from there as her name began trending on social media platforms.

Just last month, President Obama finally received his own Twitter account @POTUS and promptly broke the record for the fastest collection of followers.

Caitlyn recognized her achievement in a tweet Monday evening.

Barack Obama’s other Twitter account — which is run by Organizing for Action — voiced his support of Caitlyn with a tweet Monday afternoon.

A docuseries is set to air on E! in July that will follow Caitlyn’s transformation into a woman.
