Priebus denounces white supremacist David Duke

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus moved Saturday to forcefully distance the Republican Party from white supremacist David Duke, who announced Friday that he will campaign for Senate in Louisiana.

“David Duke & his hateful bigotry have no place in the Republican Party & the RNC will never support his candidacy under any circumstance,” Priebus tweeted.

In something of a nightmare for Priebus as Duke, a former Ku Klux Klan leader, is seeking to associate himself with Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

“I was the first major candidate in modern times to promote the term and policy of ‘America First,'” Duke said Friday. “We cannot have free trade without fair trade,” he said. “I’m overjoyed to see Donald Trump and most Americans embrace most of the issues I’ve championed for years.”
