‘Not very woke’: Tom Cotton rips AOC for blaming Liz Cheney over father’s policies

Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton slammed New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for a tweet in which she suggested Rep. Liz Cheney should not make any comments about foreign policy because of her father’s politics.

“MFW *Liz Cheney* of all people tries to offer foreign policy takes, as if an entire generation hasn’t lived through the Cheneys sending us into war since we were kids,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a tweet with an image of herself rolling her eyes.

Cheney is the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney and often receives criticism from those who disagree with his policies.

Cotton pinpointed Ocasio-Cortez’s statement as “Not very woke,” saying, “Many in our generation *volunteered* to fight. @TulsiGabbard did. @RepGallagher did. Where were you, @AOC? Playing politics. And I’m surprised you’d suggest an independent woman like @Liz_Cheney shouldn’t speak her mind because of her dad’s views. Not very woke.”

Ocasio-Cortez, a socialist and member of “the squad” of ultra-liberal congresswomen, has been outspoken in her support of other liberal women in politics and Congress.

Ocasio-Cortez’s tweet was in response to Rep. Cheney’s criticism of Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s assertion that the U.S. should not strike first in a nuclear stand-off.

“Key question for Elizabeth Warren @ewarren today – which American cities and how many American citizens are you willing to sacrifice with your policy of forcing the US to absorb a nuclear attack before we can strike back?” Cheney, a Republican congresswoman from Wyoming, tweeted on Wednesday.

Ocasio-Cortez’s comments echoed a tweet from Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders who said on Friday, “Taking national security advice from a Cheney has already caused irreparable damage to our country. We don’t need any more, thanks.”

In return, Cheney slammed Sanders as a communist saying, “No surprise commie @BernieSanders, who honeymooned in Soviet Union, is ok with U.S. getting attacked first. (On a side note, he seems to have daddy issues…with my daddy.)”
