Partisanship and politics are a hell of a drug, and Elizabeth Warren is an addict.
The Massachusetts Senator has been attacking Trump’s pick for Education Secretary, Betsy DeVos, for her position on expanding school vouchers. Warren attacked her viciously on the issue of school choice.
“[DeVos has a] deep record of activism, bankrolling and lobbying for policies that would privatize public education without meaningful accountability,” Warren said in a statement. “Your history of support for policies that would drain valuable taxpayer resources from our public schools and funnel those funds to unaccountable private and for-profit education operators may well disqualify you from such a central role in public education.”
In her 2003 book The Two-Income Trap, Warren sang a different tune on school choice and endorsed the idea of a voucher program for poor and middle-class students.

“A taxpayer-funded voucher that paid for the entire cost of educating a child (not just a partial subsidy) would open up a range of opportunities to all children,” Warren wrote in her book. “With fully funded vouchers, parents of all income levels could send their children–and the accompanying financial support–to the schools of their choice.”
It’s funny how party politics work and keep otherwise independently thinking people in an intellectual ghetto.
