Three people were killed and three more were injured after a shooting in a Kenosha, Wisconsin, tavern on Sunday, law enforcement said.
Deputies and detectives arrived at the Somers House Tavern at approximately 12:42 a.m. to find the victims, two of whom have since been transported to local hospitals. Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth said earlier a suspect was asked to leave the bar, but he returned and opened fire. Gunfire erupted both inside and outside of the establishment.
The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department said Sunday afternoon police arrested a person of interest who will be criminally charged with one count of first-degree intentional homicide with additional criminal charges to follow pending further investigation. There is at least one possible unknown shooting victim, and three male victims were hospitalized with gunshot wounds, according to the sheriff’s department.

Investigators believe the shooting to be a “targeted and isolated incident.” The threat to the community has since been alleviated, and police are working to determine victim information such as “names, ages, and cities of residence.”
Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers expressed support for the grieving families of the victims on social media.
“My heart breaks for Kenosha this morning in the wake of a shooting that took three lives and injured at least two others,” he wrote in a tweet. “I want to thank the first responders who reacted quickly and are still working to investigate and find those involved in this senseless tragedy. Kathy and I join Wisconsinites in hoping and praying those injured will recover from their injuries. We are thinking of the families and loved ones affected and the entire Kenosha community as they grieve and grapple with yet another tragic incident of gun violence.”

Authorities are in the process of reviewing surveillance video from the business, and the Kenosha Sheriff’s Department urged residents to avoid the area so that it can conduct a “proper investigation.”
The shooting follows several high-profile incidents in the last few weeks, including the Thursday FedEx shooting that killed eight and the March 22 shoot in Boulder, Colorado, that killed 10.
