BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore fire department officials say a man died while three others escaped a burning home.

The flames broke out shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday at a home on Woodland Avenue in northwest Baltimore.

The fire department says the man’s body was found on the first floor of the home after firefighters knocked back the blaze. Officials say it’s not clear why the man couldn’t get out of the house while the other three escaped without injury.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries during the operation.

The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation.
