Ahead of Saturday night’s debate, Republican presidential candidates shared their pre-debate rituals.
“Before the debate, I normally call my mom to get advice,” former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush says in the video released by the Independent Journal Review, a debate sponsor.
“My favorite thing to do on the day of the debate is play ‘Plants vs. Zombies’ on my iPhone with my two girls,” Texas Sen. Ted Cruz says. “Nothing better to get you in the right mood for the debate.”
What does surging Florida Sen. Marco Rubio do? Talk to his iPhone, of course.
“Siri, what questions will David Muir be asking at the New Hampshire debate?” Rubio asks.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich says that “before every debate, I try to talk to every single voter in New Hampshire.”
“I’m gonna be me,” says former neurosurgeon Ben Carson. “So whatever comes out, it’s me.”
Carson says “I take hundreds of pieces of paper” with debate advice people have given him “and light them on fire.”
The debate hosted by IJR and ABC is at 8 p.m. Eastern time Saturday from Manchester, New Hampshire and features Donald Trump, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Cruz, Rubio, Carson, Bush and Kasich.
