Homeland Security official to discuss cybersecurity with Israel

Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas will travel to Tel Aviv this weekend for Cyber Week 2016 amid growing cybersecurity concerns.

Mayorkas will meet with his Israeli counterparts to discuss homeland security issues, including cybersecurity, law enforcement cooperation and aviation security. He will also deliver remarks at the 6th Annual Cybersecurity Conference.

This visit comes just days after CIA Director John Brennan testified to the Senate Intelligence committee that he was worried about a “9/11 in the cyberdomain.” Brennan called cyber the “new frontier,” warning senators that the U.S. is not prepared to deal with future cyberthreats.
