LONDON — In a predictably boring, self-righteous video on Friday, Jeremy Corbyn, the leader of Britain’s Labour Party lamented President Trump’s ongoing inaugural visit to the U.K.

A major focus of Corbyn’s complaint against Trump’s visit?
Trump is “trying to pull out of the very important Iran nuclear deal.”
Now don’t get me wrong, I recognize that Corbyn is a pathological anti-American with a vested interest in seeing U.S. interests yielded in favor of Russian President Vladimir Putin and other western adversaries. But Corbyn’s choice to reference Iran in order to boost his own statesmanship is ludicrous.
This isn’t Barack Obama or John Kerry we are dealing with here. More specifically, Corbyn doesn’t simply disagree with Trump’s withdrawal from the Iran nuclear accord, he dislikes it when anyone stifles the efforts of the Iranian regime. And when I say the Iranian regime, I mean the hardliners around Ayatollah Khamenei and the revolutionary guards, not the more-moderate administration of President Hassan Rouhani.
Of course, Corbyn’s deference to the hardliners has long been clear.
Indeed, it has been glow-in-the-dark radioactive in its clarity.
Corbyn has previously taken thousands of dollars from the Iranian propaganda channel Press TV, in return for hosting a show on its network. Press TV is hardliner-central and regularly peddles conspiracy theories about the U.S. and Israel. But that’s not all. Because in 2014, Corbyn also took business class flights to Tehran courtesy of a pro-government Iranian businessmen.
And guess what was also happening in 2014? The starvation and slaughter of Muslims across Syria at the hands of Iranian forces and proxies. That reality bears noting because In his video, Corbyn laments Trump’s separation of children at the U.S.-Mexican border. I guess for the Labour leader children temporarily detained are suffering a worse fate than children who have their lungs eviscerated by chlorine gas, or their stomachs collapsed by starvation, or their brains pulverized by barrel bombs?
But actually that’s giving Corbyn too much credit. The Labour leader hasn’t simply rendered himself an Iranian puppet, he seems to think that his gimpish deference to fanatical authoritarians is a cause for pride. After all, Corbyn has praised the Hamas and Lebanese Hezbollah terrorist groups as his “friends.”
Put another way, I would take Corbyn’s rejection of Trump’s Iran policy as an endorsement of that position’s righteousness.
