Monday morning, Stephen Hayes broke news of Republican accusations that Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer went back on a promise to allow an Inauguration Day vote on the confirmation of Rep. Mike Pompeo to head the CIA. Witnesses told of an angry exchange between Senator Tom Cotton and Schumer over the broken promise on the floor of the Senate Friday afternoon. As it turns out, C-SPAN cameras captured the confrontation, which begins with a visibly irate Cotton stalking down the center aisle during a roll call and greeting Schumer with, “This is bull***.”
Although the conversation is not completely audible, snatches can be heard, and both Cotton and Schumer can be seen jabbing their fingers at one another as they talk. Several other senators join the conversation, which takes place in front of a row of Senate pages, before the group of senators moves outside the chamber less than two minutes after the confrontation began.
