WHAT: Nearly $20 million in unjustified or undocumented federal housing voucher and rental assistance payments were made by the Dallas Housing Authority. The payments include 45 to people who are dead, according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development inspector general.
WHY IT’S AN OUTRAGE: The latest IG report is the third in a series that has been extremely critical of DHA officials, so it’s not like they didn’t know. Even so, the IG said, DHA still has “failed to correct systemic weaknesses and continued to mismanage its voucher program.”
