WHO: City of Missoula, Mont.
WHAT: Unable to find pressing needs on which to spend stimulus money, the city has decided “to resurface relatively well-maintained city streets and install accessible sidewalk ramps at several intersections around the city,” according to The New West. These projects were chosen, according to Missoula chief administrative officer Bruce Bender, because “They don’t take a lot of designing.”
WHO IT’S AN OUTRAGE: Sixteen high-traffic bridges in Missoula County, and dozens of others statewide, have been deemed structurally deficient. Yet stimulus money is going to non-urgent projects.
WHERE TO VENT: City of Missoula Chief Administrative Officer Bruce Bender, (406) 552-6001.
