After a big win on Saturday, the Nationals players gave up their uniforms for penguin suits, as they made their way to National Harbor for the 4th annual Nationals Dream Gala.
And, wouldn’t you know it, most of the team — even the young guys — already own their own tuxes. “Most of the guys have their own,” said new Nats pitcher Joe Beimel, “except me. I had to rent.”
A dashing looking Ryan Zimmerman admitted, “The tux is mine, but I had to borrow the bow tie. I forgot mine.”
And most of the new players for 2009, such as Beimel and Julian Tavarez, said they loved being in D.C. Even star slugger Adam Dunn. When we asked him how he liked his new city, a candid Dunn said, “It’s great — except for the losing.”
Dunn went on to say that he “dabbles” in politics, but if he ever were approached to run for office, he’d have to “respectfully decline.” Perhaps he’s too honest.
