Footage released over the weekend shows a teenage mother in New Mexico throwing her newborn child into a dumpster and speeding away.
In the video, a person is seen pulling up to the dumpster at about 2 p.m. on Friday, pulling out a black trash bag, and throwing it without regard into the dumpster, according to the police.
Hours later, a group of people discovered a newborn as they were searching through the container.

One member of the group, a woman, wrapped the baby for warmth, and a man she was with called the authorities, according to a report.
“Upon arrival officers rendered aid to the newborn child and the baby was transported to a local hospital by Hobbs EMS. The child was subsequently transported to a Lubbock Hospital for further pediatric treatment,” police said
The baby is reportedly in stable condition, and Alexis Avila, 18, is facing attempted murder, according to authorities.
Police used the surveillance footage to locate the vehicle and Avila, and the mother confessed she threw out the newborn shortly after giving birth, police said.
Joe Imbriale, the owner of the Rig Outfitters and Home Store, was the man who gave police the footage from his security camera.
“Something wasn’t right. I saw the officers’ faces, and they did not look right. They really didn’t,” Imbriale said.
“I said, ‘What is it we are looking for?’ and she goes, ‘We’re looking for somebody who dumped a black garbage bag in your dumpster.’ I turned around, I said, ‘Please don’t tell me it was a baby.'”
Avila is anticipated to be arranged in Lea County District Court on Monday.

“I was in shock just to see this,” Imbriale added. “I can’t sleep at night just knowing that this baby was just tossed in a dumpster like that. I’m sorry but who does that? That is evil. I don’t have words for it.”
