Man accused of running prostitution ring

A Prince George’s County man is accused of running a local prostitution ring after an investigation that began when Fairfax County police found condoms and lubricants in his car during a traffic stop.

Federal prosecutors filed a criminal complaint against Juan Fernando Munoz Vasquez, of Riverdale, this week. He is charged with transporting someone in order for them to engage in prostitution.

Munoz Vasquez admitted to authorities only that he worked as a driver for a D.C.-area prostitution service, according to an affidavit filed in U.S. District Court in Alexandria.

Court documents say that Munoz Vasquez — who is also known as “Chino” and “Cubano” — told investigators that he drove female prostitutes around the region to have sex with male clients for money.

Prostitutes told an Immigration and Customs Enforcement special agent that a man named “Cubano” runs a prostitution organization that operates in the Washington area and drives the prostitutes from Maryland to Virginia to meet clients. Prostitutes identified Munoz Vasquez as “Cubano,” the affidavit says.

One prostitute told the special agent that she earned $1,400 over two days in late August, which she split with Munoz Vasquez.

Federal authorities began investigating Munoz Vasquez after a Fairfax County police officer saw condoms and lubricants in his vehicle during an August traffic stop in Falls Church, near the intersection of Columbia Pike and Leesburg Pike.

No lawyer was listed for Munoz Vasquez in online court records on Wednesday.
