Gregory Kane: In education, it’s family, not funding

In his State of the Union speech last week, President Obama nobly intoned, “In this country, the success of our children cannot depend more on where they live than on their potential.”

Not to be outdone in this “We Love Them Kiddies” melodrama, Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell said in the Republican response: “A child’s educational opportunity should be determined by her intellect and work ethic, not her ZIP code.”
