Teacher sent to jail

A former D.C. teacher was sentenced to seven months in jail for to failing to register as a sex offender.
Anthony Ross, 43, a former coach and teacher at H.D. Woodson High School, was convicted in 1999 of sexual abuse for having sex with a 15-year-old District resident.
Prosecutors said Ross used a bogus date of birth and false Social Security number to avoid detection. U.S. Marshals had been searching for him since 2006. Ross was arrested in Ohio in 2010, just days before he was to be married.
Police kill man in Northeast
A man was killed by D.C. police after police said he was firing a gun and refused to drop it.
At about 7 p.m. Monday, uniformed police officers responded to a report of a man firing a gun while high on PCP in the 5300 block of Clay Terrace NE.
When police arrived, the man was firing a weapon, police said. The officers ordered him to drop the gun, but he did not comply.
Officers shot the man, and he was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The man was identified as 20-year-old Michael Ezekel Epps, of Windsor Mills, Md.
The shooting is under investigation by the D.C. police Internal Affairs branch.
Body found in woods
Human remains have been found in a wooded area in Woodbridge, according to the Prince William County police.
Around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to the area of Dale Boulevard and Benita Fitzgerald Drive, where surveyors found a badly decomposed body, police said.
The remains were about 350 yards from the roadway, said Prince William County Police spokesman Jonathan Perok. The age, sex and race are unknown due to the decomposition, he said.
