Larry King to emcee Peabody Awards

Master interviewer and former CNN primetime host Larry King has been pegged to host the prestigious 70th Annual Peabody Awards at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City on May 23.

“Larry King has greeted figures of social and cultural significance throughout his career, and the roster of his guests reads as a chronicle of our times,” said Horace Newcomb, director of the Peabody Awards at the University of Georgia. “Now he will introduce the Peabody Award recipients for 2010 and welcome guests as we celebrate the 70th presentation of the awards. No one would add greater distinction to this anniversary year.”

The former Larry King Live host and two-time Peabody Award recipient himself is taking his act on the road, kicking off a stand-up comedy tour in April.

The Peabody Awards recognize excellence in radio and television stations, networks, webcasters, producing organizations and individuals.
