Honda dealership supports camaraderie

Paul Zublionis is as excited talking about his involvement with the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation as he is talking about his Honda dealership.

Certainly, Zublionis is proud of Honda Powersports of Crofton, which he and partner Jim Paugels started just about four years ago. But the dealership, which now boasts 20 employees, wants to help the community too.

“What sets us apart is that we are definitely interested in satisfying our customers and we are all enthusiasts,” Zublionis said. “You hear a lot of things about cyclists but you never hear anything about these types of activities.”

The dealership, which sells cycles, all-terrain vehicles, watercraft, and other Honda vehicles and accessories, sought to make a difference in the community by raffling off a 2007 Goldwing motorcycle. The $20 raffle tickets will become part of a “backward” auction in September. The last ticket selected will be the winner, he said, and proceeds will go to the foundation.

The raffle is part of the Honda Riders Club of America?s efforts to raise funds across the United States for the charity.

“We are giving away the biggest, baddest motorcycle Honda sells,” salesman Eric Keegan said. “This is a cycle someone can jump on and ride across the country.”

Keegan said the owners? generosity is in keeping with the collegial atmosphere at the dealership. At other dealerships, Keegan witnessed some nasty competition among salespeople scrambling for customers. That doesn?t happen at Honda Motorsports, which he joined about four years ago.

“We all work together,” Keegan said. “We try to stay close and work out issues. Here there?s no problem with someone walking up to another salesperson and asking for help. We work together.”

Such camaraderie is no accident. When Zublionis and his partner left LandRover Corp. and started this dealership, they wanted customer satisfaction as the primary goal. That?s one reason they chose to have an exclusive Honda dealership.

“When you sell several brands, it complicates the business,” Zublionis said. “Here we only sell Honda. They?ve been around a long time, are innovative and offer reliable, quality vehicles.”
