School Board to discuss fate of Clifton

The Fairfax County School Board is scheduled to meet this evening to review a staff recommendation to close Clifton Elementary.

Among the staff reports recommendations to the school board:

– “Build a new elementary school on the Liberty Middle School site.”

– “Build one or more additions on elementary schools in that region.”

– “Close Clifton Elementary School upon completion of the new elementary school.”

Many Clifton parents, as well as Mayor Tom Peterson, want Clifton Elementary spared. The School Board’s discussion surrounding Clifton is scheduled to begin at 8:40 p.m.
