Let’s be honest about what the Black Lives Matter movement wants: It’s not ‘equality’ or ‘justice’

Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser of Washington, D.C., said Monday that she’s “worried” the country may very well be on the verge of “descending into a race war.”

But wait, I thought the Black Lives Matter Plaza that Bowser created and so proudly displayed at the Democratic National Convention two weeks ago solved the problem. You’re telling me that wasn’t enough to quell the unrest?

The mayor dubbed the two blocks in front of the White House “Black Lives Matter Plaza” in response to the riots and protests that followed the death of George Floyd in May. At the Democratic convention last month, she said the intention was to create “a place where we could come together to say, ‘Enough.'”

That little gesture by Bowser was apparently not enough. After a brief lapse, hostile Black Lives Matter protests surged again last week and through the weekend.

Innocent people have been accosted, screamed at, and bullied by masked weirdos. Black police officers have been disparaged as “Uncle Toms.” Rioters in the streets have called to “burn it down.”

Bowser might finally take a hint that what these people want aren’t gestures of solidarity. They’re not even asking for equal rights. They’re calling for a revolution.

When they talk about wanting “justice,” they don’t mean police reforms. They mean a system overhaul that changes everything based on race.

The Movement for Black Lives website was one of the first and remains one of the most active segments of the Black Lives Matter movement. Its list of demands, first published four years ago, included reparations payments, divestment in the police, and racial quotas. In other words, the same things that it’s demanding now. So based on this organization’s vision, people who didn’t participate in slavery will be forced to pay people who were never slaves, the body politic will be rendered defenseless against criminals and rioters, and we will all be judged solely based on the color of our skin.

Is anyone surprised that such an agenda might encourage a “race war?” After three months in which the national media and Democrats have been encouraging one, I’m surprised that it hasn’t already started.

Bowser is finally waking up. Her little plaza idea didn’t seem to help.
