In a resurfaced Reddit post, Graham Platner, Maine’s leading Democratic Senate candidate, mocked a soldier who was shot four times during a confrontation with Taliban terrorists. Democrats will line up to vote for him anyway because this kind of rhetoric is tolerated, if not celebrated, on the modern Left.
Apparently amused by footage of the incident, Platner said “this video never gets old,” calling the wounded American soldier a “dumb motherf***er,” a “mouthbreather,” and a “fat a**” who “didn’t deserve to live.”

This is coming from the same guy who had a Nazi symbol permanently etched onto his body, and then bragged about later becoming a “communist.” He has also referred to law enforcement as “bastards” and said rural white Americans are “racist” and “stupid.” Platner needs mental help, not a job on Capitol Hill. But because anti-American sentiment like this is not beneath the modern Democratic Party, he is a shoo-in to win the June 9 primary — and has a large polling lead for the general election.

If you’re surprised, you’re not paying attention. This is the party of Rep. Ilhan “some people did something [on 9/11]” Omar (D-MN), and the same party lifting up Hasan “America deserved 9/11” Piker.
There are two prevalent kinds of Democrats in U.S. politics: Those who engage in violent anti-American rhetoric and those who enable it through their silent support. Both groups will vote for the Democratic nominee, no matter who it is, what they’ve done, or what they support. The principled Democrat has achieved mythological status, such as “Bigfoot” or the “Loch Ness monster.” I would love to be proven wrong, but until one mainstream Democrat calls on Platner to suspend his campaign, I stand by that assessment.
In the words of Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), a glass of water with the letter “D” next to it would win in solidly blue areas. Democrats voted for Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) even though he was literally unfit to serve in the Senate from a health standpoint, and he has since missed an extraordinary number of votes. The Democrats allowed former President Joe Biden to run for a second term despite his senile and decrepit state, and only backed off when the general public caught on.
If Platner beats incumbent Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), it will send a strong message from the Left that it doesn’t matter if a candidate is a Nazi, communist, or America hater — they will unite and rally around any Democrat because voting for a Republican (even an anti-Trump “RINO” like Collins) is just too offensive in 2026. Much less offensive to the Left is political violence and disdain for our country.
‘LUIGI: THE MUSICAL’ AND THE LEFT’S GROWING APPETITE FOR VIOLENCE
In a sane, proper society, Platner would have been disqualified from office umpteen scandals ago. We do not live in a sane, proper society. His Reddit comments will make for some good political ads and fundraising calls, but they won’t move the needle on the election.
A large group of Democratic voters outright agrees with the views Platner has expressed. The rest will hold their nose and vote for him — they’re no better than the former. If there is going to be a return to normalcy in this country, Republicans (who have problems of their own) can’t do it alone. It will require the principled Democrat coming out of extinction.
