[VIDEO] Liberal Video Parodies “Call Me Maybe,” Pushes Votes for Barack Obama

With just five days until the presidential election, a liberal group has taken the pop song “Call Me Maybe” and turned it into a push to reelect President Obama . In a parody of the Carly Rae Jepsen hit, a young, hipster girl in dreadlocks calls her Jewish grandparents, Bubbe and Zeyde and convinces them to vote for Barack Obama in a video titled “Call Your Zeyde.”

“Put down your bagel and lox before you check any box, and just think this thing through,” granddaughter Michelle tells her undecided grandfather Zeyde on the phone, before issuing a handful of liberal talking points for him to consider. From Medicare to immigrants to gay marriage, the folks at Schlep Labs run the gamut in this weird video, on why they think Obama deserves your vote.

“Do you like your Medicare?… Well Romney wants to cut a Medicare,” Michelle tells Zeyde. “What about gay marriage?” Zeyde asks, to which Michelle replies, “Wait… did you think Shira was just my roommate?”

In an attempt to solidify the Jews for Obama vote, Zeyde brings up the U.S.’s relationship with Israel to his granddaughter, asking about a piece on Israel. “It’s lashon hara – trash that flier, it’s from a liar,” Michelle says, implying that he received slanderous material. “The ties between us, will never sever – our alliance, stronger than ever!”

With Obama’s recent snub to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, and a poll released today showing that a majority of Israelis want Romney to win the presidency, this verse in the parody clearly tries to reaffirm America’s strong ties with Israel.

As the video winds down, Zeyde is seen calling his peers to discuss why he will be voting for Obama as a brady-bunch style grid depicts several senior citizens discussing the presidential candidates. In a cheeky jab at birthers, one woman is overheard saying, “So what? I don’t know where my birth certificate is either!”

With the Real Clear Politics average showing the presidential race at a statistical dead heat, both candidates could use any and every bit of help to push them over the edge. But this cheesy, hard-to-understand and just downright awful parody likely won’t sway any undecided voters in favor of President Obama.
