15th P.G. homicide victim identified
Mckinney Antonio White Jr., a 34-year-old District Heights man, has been identified by police as the person who was shot and killed Monday afternoon at a shopping center in Prince George’s County.
“He was sitting in a car at the Penn Station shopping center when the suspect apparently approached him and began firing inside the vehicle,” said Lt. Tammy Sparkman.
White’s death is the 15th killing of the year in the county.
Sparkman said officers believe White’s slaying was not random. Investigators, she said, are still working to determine a motive and suspect.
Sex assault suspect turns self in
A man wanted on rape charges for two separate attacks in Arlington County has turned himself in, police said.
Arlington County police said 36-year-old Ronald P. Berton turned himself in Sunday evening, two days after authorities distributed his photo and said Berton had been linked through DNA to assaults in 2010 and 2008.
Police allege that Berton entered an apartment on the 2500 block of N. 20th Street on Sept. 26 through an unlocked door, sexually assaulted a woman who was sleeping in the apartment, then stole items before fleeing.
DNA evidence links him to a similar incident on the 2100 block of North 18th Street in September 2008, police said.
