CLEVELAND — New York Rep. Peter King didn’t hold back when reacting to the speech Sen. Ted Cruz delivered before the Republican National Convention on Wednesday night, calling him a “disgrace” and “self-centered” for his refusal to endorse Donald Trump.
“He’s terrible,” King said when asked by the Washington Examiner for his thoughts. “He’s a disgrace. He’s a fraud, a liar, self-centered and should never be considered again for president.”
On the other hand, King could only praise Indiana Gov. Mike Pence for his speech at the convention, calling him “terrific” and “very reassuring” in his delivery of the address.
“Mike Pence was terrific. Absolutely what was needed,” King said. “Very reassuring, intelligent — great guy. Mike is a wonderful human being … Mike did everything he had to do.”
King has been a constant critic of Cruz dating back to before his run for the presidency, having said in April that Cruz “gives Lucifer a bad name” after former House Speaker John Boehner called Cruz “Lucifer in the flesh.”
