Two Rockville teens have been charged with attempted murder after a Friday afternoon shooting at the Rockville Metro Station, Rockville City Police said Saturday.
The suspects, Kevin Q. Nguyen, 16, and Tavares D. Harris, 17, have each been charged with attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a violent felony and first-degree assault. They are being held without bond through the weekend and have a court hearing scheduled Monday.
Police announced the arrests just hours after two other teenagers were wounded in a shooting.
Nguyen, who was detained by police within 10 minutes of their arrival on the scene at around 2:40 p.m., is believed to be the shooter. Police said Friday they believed they have recovered the weapon used in the crime.
The victims, whose names are not being released, are a 16-year-old male who suffered at least one gunshot wound and whom police said knew Nguyen. An unrelated 18-year-old female was also found at the exit to the pedestrian tunnel on the east side of the Metro station. Both were transported to area hospitals for wounds that were characterized as non-life threatening by emergency services personnel at the scene.
Police had no update on the victim’s conditions Saturday.
