Just spoke to network representatives at the U.S. Open and CBS will hang with coverage till 6p.m. If the USTA feels that there can be tennis played tonight then it will be aired on the Tennis Channel.
Another possibility is that a match or matches begin at around 5 or 6pm then CBS would carry them as long as possible then the action would switch over to the Tennis Channel where they would be completed.
A total washout today could push the men’s final to Monday.
