GOSHEN, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a 55-year-old worker has been killed in an accident at a state-run mental health facility in upstate New York.
State police say maintenance worker George Grumbach of Chester, New York was planting trees Wednesday along the entrance to the Mid-Hudson Forensic Psychiatric Center in the Orange County town of Goshen, 55 miles north of New York City.
Troopers say Grumbach parked a dump truck near a tree that was just unloaded. When he exited the truck, the vehicle rolled backward, pinning Grumbach underneath the front driver-side tire.
Co-workers freed Grumbach and he was rushed to Orange Regional Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
An investigation into the accident is continuing.
Mid-Hudson is a secure adult psychiatric center or patients admitted by court order.
