WATCH: Ex-staffer goes off on Trump, ‘does not care about helping Republicans’

Following reports that former President Donald Trump could announce his 2024 candidacy as early as Monday evening, former Trump administration White House Director of Strategic Communications Alyssa Farah Griffin slammed her ex-boss, claiming, “He does not care about helping Republicans.”

Griffin, now a host on The View, told her co-hosts, “Donald Trump doesn’t care about the party.”

“He only cares about helping himself,” she added.

According to her, Trump is “threatened” by Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), and that’s why he took a shot at the popular Florida politician over the weekend, labeling him as “Ron DeSanctimonious.”

Griffin claimed that elected Republicans want to see “rock star” DeSantis as the GOP nominee for president in 2024 “because they don’t want to spend another four years answering to crazy Trump tweets.” However, she claimed that the Republican base is still very much with Trump.

Speculation of a 2024 Trump announcement reached its peak on Monday morning, the day before Election Day. A report from Axios reporter Jonathan Swan indicates that the former president’s closest confidants are anticipating an announcement sooner than expected due to his recent statements.

Last week, the former senior counsel to Trump and the first woman to manage a winning presidential campaign, Kellyanne Conway, told reporters that she gives her old boss a lot of credit for holding out and waiting to announce. She predicted the announcement would come “soon.”

About Tuesday’s midterm elections, Sunny Hostin said, “Republicans only need two seats to take over the House, and I think that’s really likely.”

She explained, “I’m more concerned about the Senate because I think if the Republicans take over the Senate, legislation as we know it will stop.”

Further, she praised President Joe Biden for his ability to “do so much for our country through legislative work.”

“And it just will stop” if Republicans gain control of the Senate, she added.
