It appears new White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest is already dodging questions for the president.
During Earnest’s first press briefing Monday afternoon, Alexis Simendinger of RealClearPolitics caught the Jay Carney replacement in an untruth.
She called him out for first saying that President Obama did not speak with any foreign leaders about the situation in Iraq and later referring to a conversation between the president and Russian President Vladimir Putin on the matter.
“You got asked earlier,” Simendinger said, clearly aggravated with Earnest.
“Uh well, Alexis,” he said condescendingly, “you don’t have to get all exercised about this.”
“She’s not getting exercised, she’s telling you what it is,” another reporter chimed in.
“We asked you a question,” added Simedinger. “You should answer the question.”
Earnest said shortly that he had, but the RealClearPolitics reporter continued to refute him. “No, you didn’t. You said you had no calls to read out,” Simedinger countered.
“I was asked if the president had questions with world leaders about the situation in Iraq,” said Earnest before hastily leaving the room.
