‘A complete liar’: Republican senator rips Adam Schiff for excluding impeachment evidence

Sen. Rick Scott called Rep. Adam Schiff a “complete liar” for leaving out some evidence from his opening arguments for President Trump’s impeachment.

During an interview on America’s Newsroom, Scott, 67, argued that no new information has come out of the question-and-answer sessions that have started in the Senate impeachment trial. He claimed that senators from both parties are tired of impeachment.

“This has gone on forever,” Scott explained. “We spent, what, eight hours yesterday doing Q&A? Nothing. There is nothing new. We just get to hear Adam Schiff lie and rant and stuff like that — ask for more witnesses when it’s actually his job, and he decided not to do it.”

The Florida Republican claimed that the impeachment will “never end” if both parties agree to allow testimony from additional witnesses.

He explained, “They had the chance. The Democrats in the House had a chance to subpoena John Bolton. They are the ones who decided not to subpoena John Bolton. They are the ones who have decided to rush this case through, and then they said, ‘oh, now we want you to go through the process of calling John Bolton.’ They could have done, and they didn’t do it. I think we’ve all heard enough. I believe people are tired. I think both Republicans and Democrats are tired of this.”

Scott pivoted his focus to Schiff, who led the impeachment managers through 24 hours of opening statements. The senator claimed that Schiff left out information that could benefit Trump’s case.

“This is them trying to cover up and help Joe Biden, that’s all this is. This is partisan stuff. … Adam Schiff is a complete liar, by the way. He didn’t present all the facts in this case. He should have presented all the facts,” Scott said.

Trump’s legal team spent much of its opening arguments highlighting the evidence Schiff did not include in his opening statement. The attorneys also questioned the credibility of Schiff’s investigation.
