WASHINGTON (AP) — The District of Columbia is celebrating the start of One City Summer.

That’s a citywide initiative aimed at providing summertime activities and services for D.C. residents, especially children and teenagers.

Mayor Vincent Gray and representatives from D.C. agencies are kicking off the initiative on Saturday.

A community briefing is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Banneker Recreation Center in northwest Washington, followed by a kick-off event and then a teen event.
