A Prince George’s County man has been charged with shooting two men, killing one, in a car on Interstate-95 just outside Abingdon.
Police arrested Demetrius Lovelace, 35, late Tuesday at his Temple Hills home. There, state police said, officers found the red Mitsubishi Galant Lovelace was in when he shot 29-year-old Alan Zurita and 33-year-old Damond Jackson in an apparent robbery on the shoulder of southbound I-95 early Tuesday.
Zurita had been shot in the chest and left by the side of the road around 2:30 a.m. and died at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center less than two hours later.
Police said Lovelace had driven Jackson to the hospital and left him in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to his left leg.
Lovelace, charged with first-degree murder and robbery, was being held without bond at the Harford County Detention Center. Additional charges are pending, police said.
Police have not recovered a weapon.
Zurita?s death marked the first homicide in Harford County since the New Year’s Eve killing of a man in Edgewood.
