Westchester officer is hurt in parkway collision

SCARSDALE, N.Y. (AP) — A Westchester County police officer is hospitalized after his cruiser was hit by a car on the Hutchinson River Parkway.

The Journal News reports (http://lohud.us/1mssni3 ) the officer was struck in Scarsdale around 9:30 p.m., Saturday while waiting for a tow truck to aid a disabled vehicle.

The officer was taken to Westchester County Medical Center.

The newspaper says a police department spokesman described the officer’s injuries as “significant” but declined to provide further details.

A hospital spokesman did not immediately respond to a message.
