Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio snagged yet another congressional endorsement Monday as Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Wash., announced her backing of the Florida senator’s campaign.
Herrera Beutler, who represents southwest Washington, becomes the ninth member of Congress to come out in support of Rubio’s campaign in the month of November alone after a string of strong debate performances.
“I am proud to endorse Marco Rubio as he will focus on strengthening our economy and creating jobs” Herrera Beutler said in a statement. “Marco understands that preparing the workforce for the changing economy continues to be a primary focus in the Pacific Northwest and across our country.”
The congresswoman’s announcement comes only days after Rubio locked down the support of Utah Rep. Mia Love. Rubio’s campaign also tweeted about the endorsement, calling Herrera Beutler “another next-generation conservative leader.”
With a slightly more than two months until the Iowa caucuses, Rubio continues to trail both Donald Trump and Dr. Ben Carson, according to the latest RealClearPolitics national average. He also tops the Washington Examiner’s latest power rankings.
