Former vice principal charged with sexual assault
Prince George’s County police have arrested a former vice principal for Bladensburg High School who was accused of sexually assaulting female students in November, officials said.
Tawfik Dean Adams, 31, of the 5700 block of Oak Court, was charged Wednesday with two counts of child abuse, two counts of fourth-degree sex offense and one count of second-degree assault. He was being held at the county Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro.
Police said Adams was accused of calling the students to his office on separate occasions in September and October and asking them inappropriate questions and fondling them. After the allegations were made, school officials moved Adams to an administrative post away from students. – Courtney Mabeus
Police find body in Tidal Basin
District of Columbia emergency crews pulled a body from the Tidal Basin on the National Mall on Thursday. U.S. Park Police observed the body floating in the water near the Jefferson Memorial at about 1:30 p.m. Members of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Harbor Branch and the D.C. Fire and Emergency Services Department were called to the scene to recover the body.
The unidentified body was described as a black male, probably in his 50s. The body was transferred to the medical examiner for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. – Scott McCabe
Fairfax County man accused of bogus bomb threat
A Fairfax County man was arrested Thursday afternoon and charged with reporting a false bomb threat that temporarily closed the Pentagon Metrorail station. Ting Liu, 34, is facing charges of making a false bomb threat and disorderly conduct, Metro Transit Police said. – Joe Rogalsky
