Whew! It feels like a month since I drew my last cartoon. In actuality, it’s been a week … and a busy one at that. Design work has been monopolizing my time — again. However, there was a bright spot last week: Cartoons & Cocktails 2007. Cartoonists and cartoon enthusiasts gathered Wednesday night at the National Press Club for the annual charity auction of original art. This was my fourth year attending and I donated five cartoons this time. Since the event’s proceeds go toward aiding high school journalists, it was a very welcome surprise when a couple of my originals went for hefty sums in the live auction. My newspaper, The Examiner, was also incredibly gracious by donating $15,000 to the cause. Overall, it was a fun night, and I was able to see a few of my cartooning colleagues, including the nefarious Justin Bilicki.
