You might be surprised to learn that they are still counting votes for the Wisconsin state Supreme Court race that occurred over a month ago.
JoAnne Kloppenberg, who was heavily backed by labor union enemies of Gov. Scott Walker, lost the election by over 7,000 votes. Her campaign has little hope of making up so much ground in a recount, but it won’t be for lack of trying. She has resorted to disenfranchising cloistered nuns and starting conspiracy theories over slightly torn and stretched ballot bags. These latter, frivolous objections have drawn a sharp response from the state Government Accountability Board, which oversees election procedures and ethics laws.

Questions about the authenticity of ballots have arisen during the recount process due to holes in some ballot bags, gaps in their closure or issues with security tags. A hole in a ballot bag or a missing security tag is not enough evidence alone to discard the ballots inside. The ability to put a hand into a ballot bag is not by itself evidence of fraud.
