President-elect Trump is considering Pennsylvania Rep. Lou Barletta, a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, for secretary of labor, the Republican congressman confirmed Tuesday.
Barletta, an early supporter of Trump, met Tuesday with the incoming Republican president at Trump Tower, after which he told reporters that they discussed the Cabinet-level position in his administration.

“We talked about the secretary of labor,” he said. “Actually, we talked about transportation and we talked about labor as well.”
“I’m going to consider what we talked about,” Barletta added, according to pool reporters camped out in the lobby of Trump Tower.
Barletta was rumored to be under consideration for transportation secretary, though the Trump transition team is expected to announce the appointment of former Labor Secretary Elaine Chao to that position late Tuesday evening. Chao will be charged with implementing the Trump administration’s public investment policy in infrastructure, which Barletta described as “very important.”
“We had a good conversation about a number of issues concerning the country and we talked about the president-elect’s ideas moving forward,” Barletta said, adding that they discussed the president-elect’s stunning victory in battleground Pennsylvania.
“Pennsylvania put him over the top,” he said.
