Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush on Tuesday half-jokingly recommended that Melania Trump seize husband Donald’s phone so that he can focus on his duties as president, not tweeting in response to unfavorable media coverage.
The 2016 Republican primary candidate told attendees at the William Waldon Cameron Forum in College Station, Texas, he hopes “Melania steals his phone.” While the George W. Bush Presidential Library Foundation event focused on gubernatorial leadership, Bush voiced frustration with Trump’s late night tweets.
The comment came as Trump responded on social media to a Buzzfeed story that included a report alleging startling accusations against the president-elect. On Tuesday evening, CNN reported Russia had damaging information about Trump. He responded on Twitter in all caps, “FAKE NEWS – A TOTAL POLITICAL WITCH HUNT!”
Bush said he is hopeful that Trump is a successful president. Melania Trump has vowed to make curbing cyberbullying her mission as first lady.
