The Blotter – Police charge man with Fair Oaks attack

Fairfax County police have charged 25-year-old Daniel Jimenez Munoz with attacking an 18-year-old girl at knife point in the Fair Oaks area. But police say they do not believe Munoz was behind a Sept. 6 attack against another woman on the 12100 block of Penderview Terrace. Last week, following the Sept. 9 attack of the 18-year-old on the 12100 block of Polo Drive, police said they believed the same person was behind both and were worried he may become more violent. Munoz was taken into custody after a police officer recognized him from a composite sketch, police said.

Execution date set for D.C. sniper

John Allen Muhammad, the mastermind behind the 2002 Washington-area sniper attacks, will be executed Nov. 10, a Virginia judge determined.  Muhammad was sentenced to death for killing one of the 10 people shot to death during the 2002 shooting spree. His attorney says he plans to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court and ask the governor for  clemency.

Man shot and killed in Capitol Heights

A 30-year-old man was shot and killed on the 1700 block of Olive Street, Prince George’s County police said. Bowie resident Cedrick Nathaniel Holmes was found dead Tuesday evening. Investigators are trying to determine the motive for the killing and identify suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call Prince George’s police at 301-772-4925.

YMCA check forger pleads guilty

A Maryland man has pleaded guilty to forging checks at the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington while he was a clerk, prosecutors said.  Eric Sean Curry Jr. had access to the YMCA’s signature stamp and used it to forge 33 checks, totaling $142,742. He faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.
