After surveying a crop of hybrid vehicles at the Washington Auto Show, Obama singled out General Motors for praise, acknowledging that the bailed out car company had regained its status as the number one car company in the world.
“When you look at all these cars, it is a testimony to the outstanding work that’s been done by workers, American workers, American designers,” said Obama. “The U.S. auto industry is back.”

Amidst its hybrids, GM displayed a hideously painted “American Pride Camaro” painted with American military history, American flags, U.S. presidents, and a bald eagle on the front, an obvious attempt to stir patriotic fervor from auto enthusiasts.
“I’m just very proud of what we’re seeing here,” Obama said. “That Camaro with the American eagle and the American flag, that helps tell the story. Thank you very much. Keep up the great work.”
