43 arrested on drug charges in Md.

Authorities in St. Mary’s County, Md., say they arrested 43 people on a variety of drug charges during a three-day operation.

Cocaine, marijuana, PCP, heroin and prescription drug dealers were targeted in the bust that was dubbed “Operation May Flower.” Many of the arrest and search warrants were executed in Mechanicsville and Lexington Park.

Among those taken into custody was 52-year-old Francis Barnes, a Hollywood resident accused of dealing PCP. There also was 23-year-old Raisa Jakell White, who was charged with introducing controlled and dangerous substances into a correctional facility. The nature of White’s relationship with the correctional facility was not immediately made clear Sunday, when authorities announced the arrests.

Police said some of the suspects tried to evade law enforcement, but all of those targeted in the sweep were eventually taken into custody.
