‘Meet’ the Guests

Conservative talk show radio host Rush Limbaugh has never been of a fan of the big, bad “mainstream media,” and he’s even gone so far as to give America’s longest-running and highest-rated Sunday talk show, “Meet the Press,” the nickname of “Meet the Depressed.”

But perhaps it’s all just an act, because El Rushbo has RSVP’d “yes” for Wednesday’s 60th-anniversary party for “Meet the Press” at the Newseum. Or maybe he’s just coming for the food — Wolfgang Puck is catering.

The party marks the first big event for the Newseum, which isn’t even open to the public yet. Partygoers can try their hand at recording host Tim Russert’s show-closing “If It’s Sunday, It’s Meet the Press” in front of the NBC Interactive exhibit’s “Meet the Press” wall.

Expected attendees:

» From the Bush administration: Secretaries Dirk Kempthorne, Margaret Spellings and Mary Peters, national security adviser Stephen Hadley, CIA Director Michael Hayden, White House Counsel Fred Fielding, top aide Ed Gillespie, White House press secretary Dana Perino and Laura Bush’s Chief of Staff Anita McBride.

» Loads of senators (Reid, McConnell, Kennedy, Lieberman, Specter, etc.) and members of Congress (Emanuel, Dingell, Blunt, Waxman, etc.).

»  Others: Alan Greenspan, Brent Scowcroft, Sandy Berger, Tom DeLay, Bob Dole, Jeff Zucker, Willard Scott, Al Roker, Tiki Barber, Ted Koppel and Bob Novak.
