Dungy not sold on Haynesworth’s effort

An interesting take on DT Albert Haynesworth from former Colts coach Tony Dungy on a conference call this afternoon (thanks to Examiner writer Brian McNally who listened in on the 90-minute call):

“Well, Albert Haynesworth, if he plays like he did last year, Washington will be a factor in the race. Now, I played against him twice a year for seven years and he didn’t always play like that. Last year he was playing for that big contract and he got it. If he plays at the same level they will be a factor and he’ll have a chance to be the defensive player of the year. Because Greg Blache know how to use those guys. But he’s got to play that way for 16 games even though he’s already got the big money.”

Meanwhile, his colleague, Rodney Harrison had this to say about Haynesworth:

“I look at Albert Haynesworth and I think he’s a phenomenal player. Some players that I’ve talked to have actually said he takes plays off – which I personally haven’t really seen. But there is speculation that he takes plays off.”
