Lebron James is up for “Worst Actor” for his performance in Space Jam: A New Legacy, the 2022 Razzie Awards announced Monday.
James is also nominated for “Worst Screen Couple” alongside “Any Warner Cartoon Character (or Time-Warner Product) He Dribbles on.”
The movie itself received nods for both “Worst Picture” and “Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel.”

James has previously been accused of ignoring human rights abuses in China and acting as a mouthpiece for the regime. When Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey published a tweet in support of Hong Kong’s pro-democracy activists in 2019, James told the press, “I believe he was either misinformed or not educated on the situation.”
He also faced backlash regarding his ties to Nike, which was accused of benefiting from forced labor in China’s Xinjiang province — so much so that the company was forced to release a statement announcing that it does not “source products from the XUAR and we have confirmed with our contract suppliers that they are not using textiles or spun yarn from the region.”
James recently came under fire after mocking Kyle Rittenhouse during his trial for the deaths of two rioters during the 2020 Kenosha, Wisconsin, riots. When Rittenhouse began crying on the stand, James tweeted, “What tears????? I didn’t see one. Man knock it off! That boy ate some lemon heads before walking into court.”
