Former Vice President Joe Biden claimed that illegal immigrants who received protected status via the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program are “more American” than most U.S. citizens.
Biden, who made the comment during a campaign stop in Iowa this week, explained to a crowd that because some DACA recipients have done well in school, they should be offered a path to citizenship.
“These kids have come. They’ve done well. Most of these kids — there’s a lot of them, and they’re not just Hispanic. They’re Asian Pacific Islanders as well. And they, in fact, have done very, very well,” the 2020 hopeful said.
“In many cases, they’re more American than most Americans are because they have done well in school. They believe the basic principles that we all share. I think they should be, in fact, fine [to] put on a path to citizenship.”

This is similar to what Biden has said in the past about DACA recipients.

Biden recently suggested that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents who arrest and deport illegal immigrants for drunk driving should be fired and that the act itself should not be considered a felony.
“They go off to school wondering whether their mom comes and picks them up [or] if she’s not going to be there because an ICE agent was there to arrest her. Or she takes him to the doctor, that she’s going to not be there because she is ‘undocumented’ and an ICE agent is going to pick him up,” Biden told Vice magazine regarding illegal immigrants.
“You change the culture by saying you are going to get fired. You are fired if, in fact, you do that. You only arrest for the purpose of dealing with a felony that’s committed, and I don’t count drunk driving as a felony.”
