Comedian Michelle Wolf slammed President Trump for not attending the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, saying that “he doesn’t have a big enough spine to attend.”
Wolf, who headlined the dinner last year, took jabs at Trump while suggesting that the dinner is better for him not being in attendance.
“He’s just really busy, you know? He’s gotta golf. And honestly, I don’t know if anyone really wants to watch him eat,” she said on the red carpet of the Power of Women gala in New York City on Friday.
“You’ve got to love someone that just can’t handle being made fun of. I think he doesn’t have a big enough spine to attend. If a president can’t take someone making fun of them, I don’t really care about them.”

Trump told White House reporters that he’ll be skipping the black-tie event for a third year, breaking with his predecessors who had rubbed shoulders with journalists at an event derided as too cozy.
“I’m going to hold a rally, because the dinner is so boring and so negative,” Trump told reporters on the South Lawn of the White House.
The White House Correspondents’ Association confirmed that there will be no comedian headlining the event this year after backlash from Wolf’s raunchy stint last year, in which she attacked the appearance of White House press secretary Sarah Sanders and joked about abortion.
Trump said he had three sites in mind for the rally, and that “everybody wants it” and “it will be a big one.”
“I like positive things,” Trump said.
The dinner will be held on April 27 in Washington.
